Hello, and welcome to our house Casa
Nostra in Prades.
We are your hosts - Jenny and Richard
Ford.
Just about to climb to the top of Mount Canigou!!
Before moving to Prades we both worked in
the field of
special education in the UK for 30yrs + each.
Jenny worked
with children with learning difficulties including Down
Syndrome children
and children with Autism and Asperger Syndrome.
Richard was Headteacher (for
a “half-marathon” of 13 years) of a school catering for children with a variety
of difficulties including emotional
trauma and those with Autism and
Asperger Syndrome.
We
finally decided to take early retirement in order to start
a new business
and way of life in the South-West of France.
Following many visits to this part of
South-West France
we
purchased our first
house in the little village of Salses-le-Chateau,
some 15 kilometres north of
Perpignan.
We wanted to see if we
liked living here and we did!
The only problem with Salses was that it was
somewhat exposed
to the fearsome winds of the Tramontane and so we decided to
look for a more
sheltered spot.
We were attracted to Prades partially for that reason,
but also because of its perfect location half way between the
golden
sands of the Mediterranean and the winter ski slopes
of the Pyrénées around
Font Romeu.
Equally attractive about Prades is of course the
stunning
views of Mount Canigou!
A
combination of 60 years and more working with disadvantaged
children has
taught us much about the needs of others and we believe
this will be
reflected in the service we offer to our guests.
We will strive to make your
stay as welcoming,
comfortable and enjoyable as possible, where you can
enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful area.
So, here we are...

...at the summit of the Mountain in September 2007!!
